Lab Informatics Associate, Small Molecule Design and Development (SMDD)

Key Objectives/Deliverables:


  • Work with the broader informatics team to identify decisions across SMDD that can be informed/impacted by informatics solutions.
  • Apply the right informatics tool/methodology to inform and influence decisions
  • Build tools, dashboards or applications for high frequency and/or high impact decisions and processes that can leverage various data streams and analytics.
  • Develop tools/algorithms to mine patterns in existing data to create a recommendation on future questions to consider
  • Maintain the quality and performance of existing systems through technical problem solving and system documentation

Position Requirements:


  • B.S/M.S in a quantitative discipline (such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Operations Research, Engineering) with 3-5 years industry experience in solution delivery.
  • Proficiency with relational databases
  • Experience in working with varied data types (structured and unstructured) and databases
  • Experience in programming in one or more scripting languages (R, Python, Perl)
  • Experience in using existing statistics/machine learning tools and ability to implement custom algorithms as needed.
  • Web development skills (html, javascript, web frameworks)
  • Proficiency in existing Microsoft products and platforms, including Sharepoint, OneNote, PowerBI

Additional Preferences

  • Familiarity with big data technologies (Hadoop, Hive, Pig, Oozle, Spark,).
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Spotfire, D3)
  • Experience with search & indexing library technologies (Lucene, Xapian, Whoosh)
  • Experience in natural language processing tasks/algorithms
  • Experience with emerging Microsoft tools like AzureML, Planner & Teams
