JOB DESCRIPTION – MCIO Capacity Planning Support Analyst / PM


Using PMO best practices and standards, partner with the Microsoft product/program managers to facilitate a project management process to fit their needs, and oversee and execute on that process/plan. Create, maintain and control the project schedule and dashboard, facilitate meetings, and proactively identify risks to the project. Shepherd the Project Team through the Release process, being mindful of all requirements. Facilitate program communications, identify and implement continuous improvement practices, and provide regular status reports as required. Skills: 4-8 years of project management experience, Master’s degree preferred, PMI Certification required. Knowledge/background in software industry products/services/applications, with in-depth knowledge of Microsoft’s products/services/applications preferred. Must possess strong cross team/group/org collaboration skills; ability to foresee and analyze project risks, develop risk management plan and mitigate subsequent issues. The ideal candidate will have high-powered analytical skills and the ability to understand concepts and situations that pass by many others. Must have excellent communication skills, experience working with external vendors, strong project management skills, and demonstrated success in adult learning and training principles/skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.Microsoft is looking for individuals with supply chain expertise to join its dynamic infrastructure capacity planning team. The candidate must be proficient in data mining have a proven track record of data driven analysis and root cause solutioning. The candidate will create metrics that show accurate trends, develop analysis reports in Excel, create queries in SQL and develop visualizations in Power BI. We are looking for a combination of both strong analytical thinking as well as project management experience. Additionally, daily operations requires strong attention to detail to perform routine processing scripts and manage a high volume of change execution.


  • Identify feasibility of a capacity plan and trigger execution with operations team – including elements like space, power, networking and SKU availability
  • Interface with supply chain, Data Center space management, hardware supply management, deployment PM’s, SKU team, networking to manage and reconcile all issues related to projects
  • Drive root cause and corrective actions to close out process, training or tools arising from the escalations
  • Generate and manage metrics and reporting related to planning accuracy and jitter, supply changes and supply-demand gaps
  • Load execution plan into operations system of record (MDM – MSPOD)
  • Generate and publish forecasts for downstream teams

  • ·Ability to leverage SQL databases and PowerBI to create and manage meaningful dashboards
